Asbestos Roof - How to get rid of one.

The most commonly found Asbestos Roofing Material is corrugated roof and slates. Before commencing any refurbishment/demolition works in buildings, it is recommended to get the building surveyed by professional asbestos surveyors. These asbestos surveyors are experienced and trained to identify the presence of asbestos.

Any asbestos containing material (including asbestos roofs) should not be disturbed by any untrained person. In cases where asbestos removal works are required, a Licensed Asbestos Removal Contractor should be contacted for removal works and, post removal, the asbestos material should be disposed of as asbestos/hazardous waste.

In cases where untrained and uninsured asbestos removal contractors are used, the possibility of unsafe asbestos removal works increases and can lead to the release of asbestos fibers into the environment. Exposure to these airborne asbestos fibers can cause potential harm to people. As a Category 1 carcinogen material, asbestos exposure can result in developing asbestos related diseases like Lung Cancer, Asbestosis, Mesothelioma, Bronchial Carcinoma, etc.
